A two-year-old man was hit and killed in his grandmother’s driveway.

His mother’s ex-boyfriend was arrested for the attack.

Now, his mother’s girlfriend says she regrets not being able to keep Waukesha man in custody.

30-year-old Vincent Hudson faces charges for allegedly hitting an 88-year-old man with a shovel near a Waukesha parade because his grandmother wouldn’t let him buy beads from a parade float.

Hudson was out on bail after authorities released him in March for charges related to a carjacking and assaulting police officers.

Waukesha Police Chief Russell Jack says, “a little bit crazy behaviour from him.”

“No I don’t think he’s that type of person at all… I do believe there was another reason… a more internal personal reason for why he was out on bail because my mother saw that he loved her children and he loved his grandkids and he’d helped her out of a situation that she had,” says Hudson’s ex-girlfriend’s mother.

“He used to laugh and joke with my mom, now he just hurts her kids,” adds Hudson’s mother.

Hudson pleaded not guilty Monday to several charges including Homicide, Murder, and Aggravated Battery.
