Police in Maine stopped drivers over the weekend to give turkeys as gifts for people who received snow days at work due to winter weather.
“If you get stopped, we’ll have a turkey in your trunk,” Maine State Police posted on Twitter.
That resulted in dozens of impromptu photos and videos being shared across social media.
The police did not specify what city or town they were from, but one fan of the practice was P.J. Leach of Bangor, Maine.
“What better way to show thanks on a snow day!” he said.
Social media users in New Hampshire and Vermont also chimed in, noting the clumsiness of not only giving cars a ticket, but also offering tickets for some citizens to make a wager.
Last year the Pennsylvania Farm Show was the scene of similar festivities by local police.
