The True Story Behind Emily Ratajkowski’s Arse-Baring Photos

That somewhat misleading epithet ‘breaking the internet’ certainly isn’t a privilege reserved for women’s figure-based beauties who have posted sexually explicit photos to their own personal Instagram accounts in recent years, but Emily Ratajkowski is most definitely one of them.

Of course, the 25-year-old’s high-profile arse photos aren’t a new phenomenon. She managed to make them a trending topic on Twitter once already, too – back in 2013, the model and actress posted a series of scantily-clad shots on her own account, and they prompted thousands of angry comments from angry men.

“Having the nerve to call yourself a feminist while expressing yourself sexually is downright disgusting,” one called Bary described her. “I’ve tried to imagine one woman post a sexy photo who is still afraid of that – where are they, hiding in the bushes, shaking all over the screen?” asked another called s2e.

But Ratajkowski was far from fazed. “The internet is a dirty and disgusting place with vitriolic people calling me names I’m not proud of, and but my body did not become a big deal because of a body type,” she told GQ UK last week.

“People are tweeting me homophobic slurs and threatening my life – but also saying things that are very private that probably don’t even make it to my feed. It’s not just anything that is… just provocative in the way that I chose to express myself.”

Sharing that she finds sexual connotations ‘unnatural’, Ratajkowski became a feminist hero and an Internet sensation. It all started when she ‘broke the internet’ by posting a series of naked mirror selfies online.

She has since followed up with all manner of risqué poses and flesh-flashing photos, revealing intimate details about her day-to-day life. The Black Swan actress can often be found on Instagram documenting the cast and crew on the set of new film What To Expect When You’re Expecting, filmed in New York.

Sometimes, though, these shots are a little too risqué.

“If I was leading with my boobs, then I’d have people literally looking at me and questioning if I’m wearing something too tight,” she told the British glossy. “It’s actually very similar to my real life. I mean, I’m absolutely on a set – and I have large boobs, so who wouldn’t be?”

She added: “Most of it I do voluntarily, but I also have moments where I’m just drunk or embarrassed and I wish people would have said something. Almost didn’t post this – because it’s like, the internet’s over. I think it’s totally normal to be embarrassed when you’re drunk.”
